The State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC), Maharashtra was established in 2008 as a key technical support institution for the Public Health Department and National Health Mission (NHM), Government of Maharashtra. SHSRC functions as a state-level think tank, providing evidence-based technical assistance for strengthening public health systems and improving health outcomes across Maharashtra.
SHSRC supports the Health Department in areas such as policy formulation, public health planning and implementation, community processes, human resource management, health financing, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, operational research, and strengthening of Health Management Information Systems (HMIS). The Centre works through its core mandate areas, including strengthening primary and urban health care, data analytics and research, quality assurance, and health accounts, while also responding to emerging and priority needs of the state through its responsive mandate.
Through systematic research, data analysis, training programmes, and development of manuals and guidelines, SHSRC contributes to informed decision-making and effective programme implementation. The Centre also fosters collaborations with academic institutions, development partners, and government agencies to promote innovation and best practices in public health.
SHSRC currently functions from the Ground Floor, Health and Family Welfare Training Centre (HFWTC), New Building, Aundh Civil Hospital Campus, Pune, and continues to play a pivotal role in supporting Maharashtra's journey towards accessible, and quality healthcare for all.
